How do I purchase tickets?

Tickets for 2026 are not being advertised yet, but they will likely be available online through Eventbrite as well as at Kingaroy Office Central, similarly to this year's tickets.

  • I ordered my tickets through Eventbrite - how should I present them at the entrance?
    There are two ways we prefer you present your Eventbrite tickets. On your phone using the Eventbrite app/website - this method is simple and you are less likely to lose your ticket. Printed out on paper - we prefer this less since it is easy for the information on the ticket to print unclearly, as well as the risk of lost tickets.
  • What is the dress code for the event?
    The South Burnett Music Awards do not have a strict dress code, but it is recommended that guests dress "business" or "smart casual".
  • What will the food situation be like at the event? Should I eat beforehand?
    A "finger-food" assortment will usually be provided on the night at no additional cost to you, as well as the option to order food and drinks at the venue itself. Often these "finger-foods" include sandwich platters and similar things. We recommend that you eat a small meal before the event, so you won't be incredibly hungry during the event.
  • Why is the event in the middle of the week?
    This event is deliberately held in the middle of the week when our musicians have a night off. It's a night to celebrate live music and its supporters, and raise some money for school kids who don't have their own instruments.

To reward a person in the music industry who has shown a special commitment to the industry and deserves encouragement in their work. Introduced 2023.

  • Contributions to the development and growth of the local music scene

  • Positive impact on the careers of local musicians and industry professionals

  • Commitment to professional standards and ethics

  • Reputation and respect within the industry

Live Music Venue of the Year

A South Burnett venue who has supported local acts and prioritised live music throughout the year.

Introduced 2023.

This was determined by the:

  • Quality of the venue and its facilities

  • Variety and calibre of performers hosted at the venue

  • Promotion and support of live music in the community

  • Engagement with the local music scene and musicians

  • Overall atmosphere and experience for patrons

Inductee into the South Burnett Music Hall of Fame

To recognise outstanding contribution to live music in the South Burnett, and/or for showcasing South Burnett music talent to a state or national audience. Introduced 2023.

This was determined by their:

  • Longevity and sustained success in the music industry

  • Positive impact on the local music scene and community

  • Contributions to the development and growth of the industry

  • Reputation and respect within the industry and community

  • Advocacy for music to raise awareness and support for the industry

Youth Musician of the Year

A South Burnett based musician under 25 who has shown commitment and drive in their music and music performances. Introduced 2023.

This was determined by their:

  • Technical ability and skill on their instrument or voice

  • Stage presence and performance ability

  • Creativity and originality in their music

  • Professionalism and dedication to their craft

  • Impact and engagement with their audience

Country Musician of the Year

To reward a person in country music who has shown a special commitment to the industry and has achieved recognition in country music via accolades, chart position or music honour. Introduced 2024.

This was determined by their:

  • Over and above success in the genre of country music in the previous year

  • Positive impact on the music scene and community

  • Contributions to the development and growth of the industry

  • Reputation and respect within the industry and community

  • Advocacy for music to raise awareness and support for the industry

Rockin' Our Abilities Superstar Award

This is a special award for a person who has a disability and performs like a superstar at the Rockin' Our Abilities sessions in the South Burnett. Introduced 2024.

Jeff Connor Scholarship Bursary

To enable a South Burnett high-school student from years 7-10 to continue with their musical journey when their financial situation may prevent them from reaching their musical potential. This bursary consists of $2000 to be put towards a new instrument and possibly private lessons. Introduced 2025.

This award is given to students who:

  • Display significant musical talent either in music class or a school band

  • Are highly enthusiastic about continuing their musical career

  • Demonstrate respect and tolerance towards school staff and fellow peers, as well as respect towards equipment

  • Consistently behave and show effort in their classes

  • Would require financial assistance to purchase a new instrument to continue their musical studies
